Collective have proposed five new settlements within the Oxford to Cambridge corridor. The 130 mile corridor is home to 3.3 million people and includes two of the most productive, world-leading universities.
The new settlements will be strategically positioned within the Oxford to Cambridge corridor. Subsequently each settlement will connect to the new East West Rail, Expressway and existing road, rail and water networks. It will transform the line into a local and regional network.
The first intention is to offer the community the opportunity to deliver their individual homes and neighbourhoods. Secondly, the aim is to minimise regulations and encourage experimental design solutions. Finally to propose an open and continuous network which will generate equal opportunities and maximise interaction for all residents.
The settlements will connect people to natural and built landscapes. In addition, they will offer a remote urban-rural living experience. The local landscapes will inform a unique design approach for each settlement.
