Studio collective delivered the spatial strategy for Our Mayland Neighbourhood plan in collaboration with VandelVelt. The village of Mayland, situated on the Blackwater estuary’s, grew out of informal seaside plots and the radical, back-to-the-land movement.
The participatory methodology led to the creation of a shared vision for the future of the village over the next 25 years. For example the Neighbourhood Plan design principles incorporate housing, leisure and community policies.
This resident-led neighbourhood plan empowers local citizens by embedding a robust strategy to implement their shared vision. For instance, local community-led housing groups can reinstate control and sow profit back into the local area.
Above all this adaptable neighbourhood plan contributes towards much needed local housing, infrastructure and public projects. The proposed interventions are for future generations to enjoy.
